App of the Month: Spotify

Optimized-spotify-logo

“Apps of the Month” are going to be a themed post that I plan on doing here at Define Her Allure this year as a part of my goal to be consistent with my MTM (More than Makeup) Monday posts, so here’s an idea! If you have any other suggestions for things that you would like to see me write about I would love to hear from you. Tweet me and let me know!

This past month has been super exciting as far as my apps have gone. I love trying out new apps, especially if they’re free, and that is what this months is: FREE. One thing that I love more than makeup and social media is music, so this app is right up my alley.

Nicki Minaj The Pinkprint Album Review

the pinkprint deluxe

Last month, Nicki Minaj graced with the album that we’ve been waiting for ever since last year. I was super antsy for the first part of December while I was awaiting this album. I have included all of the songs on the deluxe version of this album. The Pinkprint features a lot of different artists including Meek Mill, Drake, Ariana Grande and Lil Wayne plus a few others.

Testimony by August Alsina Album Review

August-Alsina-Testimony-Album

On April 15, 2014 August Alsina released his first debut album titled Testimony. The deluxe version has 15 songs and it is 61 minutes long. I’ve had this album on repeat since it first came out an I feel like I’ve listened enough and have done enough research in order to make a solid review. Personally, I really like August Alsina, not only for his musical talent, but for his ambition and for his history. I’ve done quite a lot of research on August Alsina and from listening to a couple of his interviews I can only assume (because I’ve never actually met him) that he’s a very down-to-earth, hardworking and humble person. His music has brought him a very long way and delivered him from a very dark place. Just the fact that he released his album on his big brother’s birthday who was killed stood out to me. Out of all of the songs on the deluxe editions, I like every single one of them. All of the songs tell a different story whether it is from his personal life, which the majority of them are from or they are about situations that everyone can relate to. One thing I can say about thins album is that all of the beats are very nicely done. Another thing, all of the songs for the most part are related to the title of the album, which is rare. I honestly feel like he put a lot of hard work into this album. This sets the bar super high for every album that he ever releases from here on out and for male R&B artists. My favorite songs on this album are #3) Right There, #4) You Deserve and #16) Grind & Pray (Extended).

Trey Songz – Trigga Album First Impression

trey-songz-trigga-cover

Trey Songz has been singing since around the mid 2000’s and has earned the titles of “Mr. Steal Yo Girl” or the “Panty Droppa”. Now I’m not sure if that last part is 100% true, but what I do know is that Mr. Songz can really sing. On July 1, of this year he released his sixth full length album titled Trigga. Now I haven’t had a chance to listen to his album but one time. From what I have heard so far, I like almost every song on this album. Out of the 17 songs that he has on the deluxe version, I like 16.5 of them. The only reason it didn’t receive a 17 out 17 from me is because of the second track titled “NaNa” has been out for more than a couple of weeks already and it is kind of becoming overplayed to me. Other than that I really have nothing negative to say about this album so far. One thing that I have noticed so far, all of the beats for this album are very catchy and modern. Trey’s purpose for this album makes this my personal favorite from him.
Disclaimer: This is my first impression of this album so far. Being that this is the first month of it being released, this isn’t my full and final review. The final review will be around the end of the month or the beginning on August, so be on the lookout for that.
